Finding Time For Exercise

One of the biggest excuses people use today for not being in shape is that they simply don’t have time to work out. This is a legitimate excuse—Americans today are working many hours, while trying to balance out a number of duties at home and still take care of their families. But the truth is that anyone that is truly committed to getting in shape and getting some exercise into their lives can make a little time for it.

You don’t have to exercise for a bulk of time all at once. Numerous studies show that actually, working out in smaller segments can be more effective than one long workout. This means you can utilize small pockets of time to get fit. This is a much more reasonable task for busy Americans.

Get an early start! As busy as your mornings are, see if you can squeeze ten minutes of exercise into it. A ten minute workout video, a quick run, or even a quick few sets of lunges and sit-ups can get you going in the right direction!

When you go to work, the supermarket, or anywhere else, why not take a parking spot a few rows away rather than circling around the parking lot for several minutes just trying to find a parking spot near the front? Take swift steps to the building from your parking spot—the extra distance will burn calories!

Skip the elevator and take the stairs whenever you can. Walk to the nearby convenience store if possible. You will find there are countless opportunities where you can get a little extra exercise in.

You may way to invest in a couple of short exercise video tapes for whenever you find a little free time at home. Various fitness programs sell an “eight minute workout” or similar high intensity workouts that you can squeeze in whenever you find just a pinch of time. Working it out instead of jumping on the phone or in front of the television will reveal results in just weeks.
