It’s no doubt that America’s businesses have capitalized on the weight loss frenzy that has erupted in the country as obesity continues to be on the rise. While the media pushes slim, sexy bodies, fast food joints on every corner, and a number of labor saving devices have produced quite the opposite result. Many Americans are now checking in with themselves and their weight problems, and are trying to lose weight and get fit. But this can often seem like a very costly venture. Television commercials constantly advertise all kinds of miracle machines—but at miraculously high prices also. Many require long term financing programs just to purchase the machine. Other video fitness regimens, diet plans, online diet programs, and all kinds of fitness equipments can add up too.

Gym memberships are sometimes more reasonable, but often they have high monthly prices as well. Even worse are the contracts that you are bound to. In a sense, this is good because it may keep you going to the gym rather than quitting. But statistics show that an alarming number of people sign up for annual programs, and barely frequent the gym at all.

The truth is, getting serious about being fit doesn’t require you to be loaded. You can get in great shape without spending very much money, or any at all.

You don’t need a savvy cardio exercise program to lose weight! All you really have to do is put on a pair of comfortable shoes and start running or power walking. Setting aside a morning or evening running routine on a daily basis can help melt off the pounds very quickly, while increasing your metabolism and providing numerous health benefits.

If you do want an at-home video routine, ignore the expensive television commercials! Check in with local thrift stores, the newspaper, or Ebay for used equipment. You will often find barely-used items at bargain prices, that you can afford without a financing plan!
