Protein Diet

The protein diet is a plan that is focused on a high intake of protein in order to achieve fast weight loss results. The approach to this diet regimen is to enjoy foods that are high in fat and high in protein. As with any diet plan, there is a tradeoff. While eating lots of foods that are rich in protein is recommended and encouraged, dieters on this plan must stay away from foods containing carbohydrates.

The protein diet gives some quick results, as you lose a lot of water weight. This will immediately give you a leaner, more sculpted look. The real weight loss doesn't begin, however, until you have been on the protein diet for a week or two. The goal of this diet is that the dieter will cut out carbohydrates, and in return, start shedding pounds. However, it is difficult to find a variety of foods that are low in carbohydrates. People get bored eating the same foods over and over again and therefore give up the protein diet and regain the lost weight.

The protein diet plan is often used by athletes, body builders, and others seeking increased muscle definition. Essentially a low carb diet, it has now become a popular trend for many others as well. At first, being able to eat a steak or bacon may seem like a dieter's dream, but it can quickly become monotonous when you can't have the sides you are used to eating. If you're at risk for heart disease, diabetes, or have kidney problems then you should avoid the protein diet.
