High Protein Diet
The high protein diet is essentially a low carbohydrate diet with an emphasis on extra protein. The main sources of this are from meats such as beef, chicken, and fish. Eggs are also a good source of proteins. This diet is good for one's bones and is often utilized by people looking to define muscle tone in their body. Unfortunately, many important nutrients and other foods that yield energy are left out of the high protein diet plan.
When you are on the high protein diet, your eating approach should be to try food recipes that can contain high fat content, high protein content, and a high content in vitamins found in vegetables. The good carbs that are highly prevalent in many cereals, breads, and rice are not allowed. Some vegetables are also cut out of the high protein diet plan because of their high carb content.
The goal of this diet is solely to lose weight, since the dieter will make it a point to cut out carbohydrates. Many athletic people may use this diet plan to gain additional muscle definition and muscle tone. With the absence of carbohydrates, the body retains less water and therefore better exposes muscle definition. However, since this is just water, it is not a true weight loss. The high concentration of proteins does enhance muscle definition, although it may not be the best diet plan for weight loss.
Many feel that the high protein diet especially challenging, since finding a variety of foods that are low in carbohydrates while still being high in proteins is rather difficult. Dieters on this eating plan often complain about the monotony of eating just meat and steamed vegetables and are bored of eating the same goods over and over again. If you're at risk for heart disease, diabetes, or have kidney problems, then you should avoid the high protein diet.
